Appliance Inc. Joins BankWare In Creating First Secure Internet-Based
Payment Process
Freemont,
CA, June 8, 2000 - Internet
Appliance Inc. (Freemont, CA) and BankWare (Birmingham, AL) announced
today they have formed a strategic alliance to provide the financial
industry with the first secure, scaleable, Internet browser-based
payment processing system.
The
strategic alliance brings Internet Appliance’s INTERNETpro
Small Enterprise Server together with BankWare’s ImageCentre™
check-and document-imaging and payment processing solution. The INTERNETpro
will provide the networking infrastructure for ImageCentre clients to
move applications securely from their back offices to any location
worldwide using virtual private networking over the Internet.
“We
are particularly pleased to ally our INTERNETpro multifunction
Internet security appliances with best-of-breed applications like
ImageCentre,” said Bobby Toda, Internet Appliance Senior Vice
President of Sales. “Document management applications have always had
security features, due to the proprietary and highly-confidential nature
of the information they handle. Now that they are being deployed on the
Internet, VPN with strong encryption and firewall protection are
compelling necessities.”
“The
Internet defines the future of computing, and by extension is redefining
companies, business models and traditional processes,” said Bob Darty,
principal of BankWare. “In our environment, the traditional manner of
check processing and check clearing by financial institutions is
completely revolutionized. In combining Internet technology with
image-based payment check processing technology, the playing field in
this industry is changing.”
ImageCentre
is the financial industry’s first and only complete, integrated
browser-based check imaging, document imaging, remittance processing and
COLD solution.
The
INTERNETpro SES incorporates VPN with some of the strongest
encryption available, plus a web server, e-mail server, web caching,
built-in router and firewall, URL blocking and dynamic content
screening, file/print server and a wide range of WAN connectivity.
Financial institutions that employ the INTERNETpro-ImageCentre
solution will see benefits in customer service as well as competitive
positioning and employee empowerment. Adding secure Internet access
allows service representatives to handle customer requests for private
financial data in real time, rather than waiting up to three days for
the information to be mailed. ImageCentre and INTERNETpro can be
integrated with online banking solutions, e-mail responses and direct
customer access over the Internet.
